Bull & Bear are serious boats and a serious operation. We travel around helping youth organizations learn to sail, get experience on the water, learn leadership and just enjoy themselves. We also donate our time and effort to race for charities.
The gear that comes with the boats is incredible. We arrive with multiple trailers and boats, all the tools we need, people to help and RIBs to back us up. Coolers are aways full of ice and water, and somehow a beer ends in your hand (if you are legal) after every good event.
Most crew of the Bull & Bear Sailing Team are very serious sailors competing in local, national and international events. Although Shane does like the speed of a good RIB. He is affectionately known as Shane "You're Funny" Lewis. Carl and Pat are world Class Sailors, and Henry is of the famed sailing family Colie and a world class E-Scow sailor. He runs the Bull & Bear Sailing Team with flawless precision.
Other people involved with the Sailing Team include Henry running the show; Billy back home at the shop when needed; Peter S. with media production; Barbara adding her smile and organizing; Sam helping to organize; Peter with an off the cuff comment as we sail past a neighboring boat; and Cynnie lending class back to our Team. And of course there is John Brady, Newt Kirkland, Bob, Ranson and Sean Corson who built the boats and continue to support us with whatever is needed.
The boats are fast and fun. They tip over occasionally getting everyone wet, but come upright quickly and are back sailing in a flash. They are really world class sailing boats and have been sailed by such experts as Peter Commette, Buddy Melges, Betsy Alison and many others. All loving the experience and coming back for more.
All of these things are just to help out charities and to give kids an experience they wouldn't normally have. As far as wooden boats are concerned, these are the tops, right up there with a J-Class, old 12-meter or a Trumpy motor yacht.
We look forward to seeing you on the water!
